Arlo Health SMS Program — Consent Documentation
Arlo Health sends transactional text messages about a patient's care — notifications that a provider has responded, consultation status updates, and follow-up reminders — only to users who have affirmatively opted in by selecting a dedicated SMS checkbox. The checkbox is unchecked by default and entirely optional: users who leave it unchecked complete account setup and use every part of the service normally. Account verification codes are not sent under this program; they are delivered separately through Twilio Verify. Arlo Health does not send marketing text messages under this program.
Opt-In Flow
Users create an Arlo Health account on the web at https://app.arlohealth.ai. On the final step of onboarding, the SMS opt-in is presented as its own checkbox, separate from the Terms of Use / Privacy Policy checkbox and separate from the phone number field. The screenshot below shows that step exactly as presented to users.
The opt-in is voluntary in the following specific senses:
- The SMS checkbox is unchecked by default; consent is recorded only when the user actively selects it.
- It is not bundled with the Terms of Use or Privacy Policy, which are accepted through a separate checkbox.
- It does not gate the submit button: the “Accept and finish setup” button is enabled and account setup completes with the SMS checkbox left unchecked (as shown in the screenshot).
- Declining has no effect on the service — consultations, prescriptions, payments, and every other feature work identically without SMS.
- Providing a phone number is not itself consent. Users who enter a phone number but do not select the checkbox receive no messages under this program.
Each choice is stored on the user's account with the timestamp, where it was made, and the version of the disclosure text the user was shown. An account with no recorded opt-in is treated as not opted in, and no messages are sent to it.
Opt-in is collected only on the web. There is no mobile application associated with this program, and there is no keyword, verbal, paper, QR code, or in-store opt-in.
Consent Disclosure Text
The exact text presented next to the SMS checkbox:
Yes, text me updates about my care (provider replies, consultation status, and follow-up reminders) at the mobile number on my account. This is optional — you can use Arlo without it. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
The same screen presents links to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, accepted through their own separate checkbox. Verification codes are outside this program and are delivered through Twilio Verify on Twilio-registered senders.
Opt-Out and Changing the Choice
Users can turn text messages on or off at any time, without contacting support, from Settings → Notifications in the Arlo Health web app. The setting shows the same disclosure text and reflects the choice recorded at signup; clearing it revokes consent immediately and is stored as an explicit opt-out. Replying STOP to any message also stops all messages.

Privacy Policy
The Arlo Health Privacy Policy is publicly accessible without login at https://www.arlohealth.ai/privacy. Section 14, “SMS/Text Messaging”, governs this program and states in full:
14.1 Transactional text messages. Text messages about your care are optional. Arlo Health sends them only if you affirmatively opt in by selecting the text-message checkbox during account setup or in your account settings; that checkbox is unchecked by default, it is separate from your acceptance of these policies, and you can create an account and use Arlo Health without selecting it. If you opt in, Arlo Health will send you text messages with updates about your care at the mobile number on your account. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and get help by replying HELP or contacting support@arlohealth.ai.
14.2 No third-party sharing of SMS consent. We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Section 5.4 further states that Arlo Health does not disclose user information to third parties for their own marketing.
Terms of Use
The Arlo Health Terms of Use are publicly accessible without login at https://www.arlohealth.ai/tos. Section 20, “Text Messaging Terms”, states in full:
20.1 Text messages about your care are optional. Providing your phone number does not by itself sign you up for text messages. Arlo Health sends text messages about your care only if you affirmatively opt in by selecting the text-message checkbox during account setup or in your account settings. That checkbox is unchecked by default, is separate from your acceptance of these Terms, and is not a condition of creating an account, paying for a consultation, or receiving care — you can use the Services without selecting it. If you opt in, you will receive messages such as provider replies, consultation status updates, and follow-up reminders at the mobile number on your account. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Arlo Health does not send marketing messages under this program. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or turn text messages off at any time in your account settings. Reply HELP for help or contact support@arlohealth.ai.
20.2 Verification codes are separate. One-time codes used to sign in to your account are sent as part of account security, not as part of the optional care-updates program described in Section 20.1, and are not affected by opting out of it. Opting out of verification codes may limit your ability to sign in.
20.3 No third-party sharing of messaging consent. Arlo Health does not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
